Non-Partisan Congress - Good News. We Can Reform Congress
According to Members of Congress in this video, they don't get their jobs done because of partisanship (0:34) As Federal Employees, it is already a crime to engage in partisan activity while on the job or within government buildings (Title 5 US Code § 7324). Congress tried to exempt itself, placing Congress above this law.
But Congress cannot exempt itself, expecting voters to remain silent.
Congress’s own “House Rules and Manual” mandates that “those who make [the laws] shall not exempt themselves.”
The law - The Hatch Act - prohibits party activity on duty or within the Capitol and Congressional offices.
Ask your Member of Congress if they should be exempt from the laws they pass. If they say “No”, ask them if they therefore will agree to ending Congress’s exemption from The Hatch Act? Then there will be no more partisan Republican-only caucuses. No more partisan Democrat-only caucuses. No closed, partisan political meetings while on duty or in government buildings. Everything open and transparent for all Members. The People’s business will be the priority, not politics.
